My uncle gave me a WP250 with an onan p218 engine, but it needs to be jumpered to start. Any ideas on what the issue may be? If I remember him correctly he said I need to put a jumper over the coil or it will not start. Could it be the starter or the coil, or something else in the ignition system? Thanks for any help!
Reply:Could it be he said a jumper from the battery to the coil? This bypasses the on switch and the oil pressure switch. Down load the owner's manual form Lincoln, you will need the code number to get the correct one. There is about 5 different wp 250s and most of those are diesel.A diagram in the back of the book that will be very close to your welder. To get a code correct diagram you will have to call Lincoln and ask for one.
