you can follow progression here (http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...odule-for-ESAB)so let me tell you about this. the 1st pic is just showing how i had the torch laying there close to a piece of steel pipe, close enough to make the arc, etc. the video is a tad tricky, in my left hand i was holding my video camera inside my welding helmet while with my right hand i was adjusting frequency and PWM (using the low freq range of 2.6-58Hz) and using switch to turn arc on/off. i then stopped and adjusted the start current on the machine, max current was around 50A. helmet shade was a tad dark for video, but if you watch this video in full screen mode you can see the pulsing a tad better. pulsing up (10-49%PWM) is more obvious on video then pulsing down (51-90%PWM). this controller can be powered by battery or any wall-wart 15-35v(ac or dc). the controller is still on my breadboard so no i need to get it onto a real pcb and into an enclosure so i can make some weld runs to see how pulsing helps, etc. and btw, easily adaptable to many other welders.Last edited by welding_kid; 05-21-2014 at 04:16 PM.
Reply:i had a WW user PM me about my module for his machine, an older machine (1989'ish). after looking at the manuals & schematics for this machine the pulsing circuit board (an optional item for the machine back in the day) is almost exactly the same as what i built. the big diff is, OEM is integrated into the machine while my module is 100% isolated from the machine. i will start to build a list of machines my module will/can work with.PM me with any questions.

Reply:wow, really, ~$550 for a ESAB pulsing module??!! yikes, what a rip. i am looking to be in that $75-$100 range, maybe less if i can source the Amphenol connector at a good price, etc.
