noise hobart 140 fan noise.

Just purchased a used Hobart 140 with an hour weld time.  Never had a smaller mig before and the fan sounds quite loud.  Is this normal for the small migs?  I assume they are easy to replace.  Also is it ok to have a grinder on the same bench as the welder...vibrations?  Thanks.
Reply:My new Hobart had quite a loud fan.  As do my friends' Lincoln or Miller migs.  Is it making an unnatural sound or just a strong fan sound?

Reply:It will be loud,the fan runs at all times on that unit.

Reply:The metal dust and wheel grit will shorten the life of the welder.The fan motor will go first,then the drive motor and wire feed parts.Vibration is the least of your worry.Circuit boards are ruined by grinder dust.In short keep grinders away from other machinery.Grinder dust gets through a lot of dust masks.
