I built this (tractor) frame mount for a 9'6" Fisher V plow that I picked up cheap this winter. Timing was good for once, in most cases, it would have kept the snow away. I did not want the plow on the loader, IMHO tractor loaders are just for "chores" and not built all that heavy. Loader arm mounting also put's the plow waaay out front and will give you steering probs and can even "push" the tractor sideways in a heavy windrow. The tractor has an aux. hyd. circuit for the loader, this gives me 3 circuits to run the plow. The valve stays on the tractor and was very handy to use for the plow. I've finally got the nerve to post something that I've built, you pro's make it intimidating  Attached Images
Reply:What little frame there is available to attach to is only about 16" wide. Not the best situation for the plow's "push beam" being about 28" wide. I angled out to attach to the bumper/grill guard that I had built earlier. Originally I was going to make some heavy "stiff legs" going under the front axle to a point back further on the tractor, but then thinking of the pretty crappy sheet metal frames that are on the trucks that this plow was intended to be used on, I settled on handeling the loads as I did. Reply:Thats freakin awsome!!! great job..thats plenty beefy.. is that a Kubota tractor and what horse power? did you build the cage onto too?Of all the things I lost I miss my mind the most...I know just enough about everything to be dangerous......You cant cure stupid..only kill it...
Reply:How do you find that working when the plow is angled?  We've adapted a few Fisher's and find the narrower front end of the tractors, (Kabota 4x4's) tend to want to push to the side in heavy snow.
Reply:look at the front wheel chains, they bite big time into the snow and ice and will keep tractor straight with a 4 x 4 tractor...Of all the things I lost I miss my mind the most...I know just enough about everything to be dangerous......You cant cure stupid..only kill it...

Reply:Thanks for the kind words fellas.wnywelder; Those pins are spring loaded. I salvaged them off of another plow (Diamond) that I bought along with this one. I made that one into a skid steer mount. roadkill; Yeah that's a Kubota M9540, 95hp. The canopy I made out of an old Cat d-6 engine hood, thought it had some cool "lines" to it. I split it down the middle and added 30" to it. The front support and "sweeps" is 2x3 tube.BrianC;  We've only had real nice dry snow this year, I think it'll be fine, but you get enough heavy wet snow in front of anything, you know what happens. It's a lot better than having it on the loader arms in terms of leverage when steering. I did play around the other day in about 2' of hard sun weathered snow and in the "V" position, I didn't even try "angle only". I'd be in the snowbank real quick I'm sure. Those chains! well if you don't have chains, you might as well be wearing a dress! Attached Images
Reply:It is very nice, but I would want push rods from the rear. Broken castings are likely if you don't.Do you have front brakes? You'll want rear chains if you don't. You have a 4 ton Flying Saucer Sled. It will go where gravity wants it to go on a hill. From the driver's seat it's a helpless feeling. That's one sweet package!Last edited by Willie B; 03-22-2015 at 07:36 PM.An optimist is usually wrong, and when the unexpected happens is unprepared. Reply:The only engineering that's enough is over engineering, It's a heavy tractor, If you hit a curb or stump it's all going to stop very suddenly. I'd feel better about bending some fabricated steel I could cut and replace a section than that beautiful orange.I bought double ring chains (2) locally for $400 for my IH 385 15.9-28 They are adequate.Last edited by Willie B; 03-22-2015 at 10:11 PM.An optimist is usually wrong, and when the unexpected happens is unprepared. Reply:Heluva loader Sam!Here's my issue with an extra rearward brace. I built a full belly pan to keep the bottom protected from all my rocks & stumps when working in the woods with my (home made) winch. There's not a lot to attach to under the tractor, and I needed to do a LOT of framework to "level" the plate mounting point(s) to the lowest part of the tractor. Mostly 2X2-1/4 tube, It's been fully tested now and is fine for those mostly vertical loads. Putting a "pushing" load on it would worry me. Another problem is when the tractor is "full turn" on the steering, there's very little room. If you notice the cut out's on the front skid plate, thats how far the tires come in to the tractor. I'm not arguing the point that it would be better, but have you ever seen how a "Fisher" plow trips? Only the cutting edge folds under/back, that throws the plow just about straight up clearing what ever it hits. I'm only plowing my roads on the property, and remember that's at maybe 4-5 MPH. Years back I had a Fisher on a p.u. and was plowing a commercial lot with concrete curbs and drove straight over a parking "island" at about 15 mph. It did remind me that I needed some sleep but didn't phase either the plow or the truck.I appreciate your comments and again, not disagreeing but seeing these other issues, 'ya got any ideas? There must be a drawbar. A single 2x6 3/8" wall could be cut and welded in the necessary bend to span from the drawbar to the push frame. Plows with bottom trip mechanisms are good at jumping over low obstacles. A few inches taller they don't give much.An optimist is usually wrong, and when the unexpected happens is unprepared. Reply:That little reciever hitch go's on the front bumper (that 5X7 tube) It was a handy way to mount the lift cyl. and might be useful for trailer work. (I'm better pushing a hay wagon from the front, than backing) Attached Images
