Reply:GumneckIt also called a Tobin Arc. Tobin is an ancient name in electricialwelding history. It appears to be laying bottom-side up.On the top-side in the fore of the handle is a thumb-slide that tunesthe carbon rod/arc distance. The slide controls and maintains the arc as the rods expire. This a great deal, the carbon-arc itself probably exceeds $225.00.Opus

Reply:I'd like to have one of those original Lincoln carbon arc torches. They stopped making them a number of years ago. I don't think they were all that expensive."USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder |
