best wire to use with feeder in cc mode?

Whats the best wire to use from my suitcase. My suitcase is a cc/cv feeder. And my power source is cc. Should I run flux core wire or dual sheilded wire with gas? If I should run gas what would be best 75/25 or straight co2?
Reply:You can run either self-shielded or dual shield wire. Your suitcase will have to be set on cc. I always ran dual shield with 100% co2. .045 wire is likely the smallest wire you will be able to use as the suitcase will not be able react fast enough to sense the voltage for smaller wires. The larger wires actually run better than the .045
Reply:Just curious welding with .045 and 100%co2 how thin of metal can I weld like that. That's some pretty thick wire in my opinion. It's got a 30lb spool of .035 solid wire, and came with another 30lb spool of .045 I need to go pick up another botttle of gas if I'm going that route, all I've got is a few bottle of straight argon.

Reply:.045 hard wire with CO2 runs well on CC, but it runs hot, you will not be welding under 1/4". I will run a few beads with dual shield on CC and snap some pix for you.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
