Does it really matter which way the oil filter is ran? Does it need to be facing down or facing up. Which way were they mounted when they were made?

Reply:Yeah I saw that. Kinda just sounds like personnal choice.
Reply:That's what I think too. But also look at how many cars / trucks put them with the opening up.Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
Reply:I believe they are posisioned open end up to help (gravity) the filter hold on to any particulates.Even in a pressurized system (oil pump) the filter is open end up. If it were open end down , the filter can't contain the dirt.Well like they say in the Nut House --- I'M OFF
Reply:My opinion on this is to have the hole of the filter on top, as a car would be. The reason I think this is the oil drains out of the filter back to the pan, and in turn dry start. But there again it's only my opinion. Hope this will help1960 Redface SA-200 F 1621973 Black face SA-200 F 163 with 5" chop2013 Miller Trailblazer 2752013 GMC 3500 welding car
Reply:. . . and you can check out this thread http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...ght=oil+filter that discusses those by-pass type filters that are designed to gravity drain to the sump on the "clean" side unlike full-flow types (the one on your car) that are in the pressure supply circuit.Last edited by duaneb55; 06-11-2011 at 10:21 PM.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base! |
