Bolton tools 5x6 band saw??

I've been kicking around the idea of getting a band saw. I'm just a home hobby garage guy so I didn't want anything too big or too expensive.  After searching different sizes and brands (Grizzly, jet, shop fox, etc.) I think this Bolton tools 5x6 would suit my needs. I really like the fact that the head swivels for miter cuts versus the vise and material swinging. The bolton states it has a 3/4HP motor vs 1/2HP for the rest of them.  Anybody have any experience with this saw?  Any comments or concerns?  Here's a link to the saw on their website  http://www.boltonhardware.com/catego...wivel-head.php
Reply:For $500 I'd get a  real saw off Craigslist.  Inmost parts of the country $500 will buy you a Johnson Model J. Something that was made to cut metal (as opposed to just separate you from your money) and will last a life time.Syncrowave 300Maxtron 450, S-52E, 30A
Reply:That band saw is not that expensive but I think you should go to amazon or CL and check for different names like Jet.
Reply:I've taken a look at bolton tools before. Even though I'm a hobbyist myself, I still feel the need for QUALITY tools. If you're going to buy a rebranded chicom product, get the best for the buck. Used, I paid $100 for mine included 4 spare blades, the head does not swivel, just the vise, otherwise everything is the same (no gas cylinder either). $500 + shipping + tax (closer to $650) makes this a fairly expensive unit for what you get. My unit has the exact same frame and motor, but that one does have a different stand and stop button, thats an HF saw with fancy extras, not ideal for quality or longevity. Hunt for used, you might be surprised by the quality of the saw and the price you find. Tool auctions are a great place to find quality used goods with tons of life and a real resale value. I was fortunate to get that price, but if you keep your eyes peeled on CL, etc, you'll be surprised at how many decent deals on quality equipment are out there and it's doubtful that you'll lose money when you sell it and you will get superior results for your work.
