I've been looking at a miller 350P and other Mig welders. Its seem that everybody uses different gas mixes like 90/10 pulse steel,tri-mix 90/7.5/2.5 for SS and I've hear about other!! how Much difference does it make from using the 75/25/on steel And straight argon on Alum. and SS ?Sport
Reply:Tri mix is a gimmick for mild steel. I don't do stainless with MIG so don't know.      90/10 is great cuz you can short circuit or spray with the same gas.    Often it has to be special ordered if you want a small bottle,   I  got an 80cf to use for that purposeTiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250

Reply:I bought a 350P a year ago and if you're welding in pulse mode you will notice a HUGE differance between 72/25 and 90/10. I did have a bottle of moongone which is a tri-mix also with 90% argon content that I finished out on that machine, there was minimal differance between it and 90/10. All i run anymore is just 90-10 for everything. As for stainless and aluminum I don't know. I only use that machine for steel. I TIG all of my stainless and aluminum.-DoogieMiller 350PMiller Trailblazer 325 EFI w/ Excel PowerLincoln LN25 suitcase welderXMT 304/22a feederMiller Syncrowave 350LXMiller EconotigHobart Handler 140(2) Uni-Hydro 42-14Hypertherm 65 plasmaWEBB Gap bed lathe
Reply:I use 90/10 or 92/8 for steel, 97% Ar / 3%CO2 for stainless, and straight Argon for bronze and aluminum.A few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
Reply:@ Si-based - are you using the 97%Ar/3%CO2 blend for short-circuit transfer?  Any images of your SS welds using the mix?  Looking to score a mix of 98%Ar/2%CO2 shielding for 10ga and below stainless steel.  Have to see if the LWS carries a low-CO2 mix."Discovery is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think what nobody else has thought" - Albert Szent-Gyorgyi
Reply:Thanks for all the info.got some reading and  trials to do!!! LOL  I know they make gas mixers but they are $$$$ high Is it possible to figure out and run different flow rates on your meters to com up with the same mix percentages that you buy?? LOL sounds like alot of math!!!but would it work?? Sport

Reply:@ Si-based -  appreciate the feedback.  Will check to see what equiv mix Roberts Oxygen carries in Ar/CO2 for SS.  Mahalo."Discovery is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think what nobody else has thought" - Albert Szent-Gyorgyi
