My kids at school occasionally see how far they can get the vise to open. I have to pull the bolt, and screw in the threaded rod and put the bolt back in.I was thinking of welding a heavy flat washer to the end of the threaded rod so it stops the vise from over opening.Anyone see a problem with this or is there a better way to stop the problem? and no, I don't see who is doing it.

Reply:so sad that it doesn't drop free, just jams up.
Reply:How about cross drilling it at the end of the rod and driving a roll pin in. That way you could still take it apart in the future if needed.-Spike
