Reply:^X2^Welcome to the wonderful world of heat in one hand, filler in the other. You are now and integral part of the weld process! Not just trying to control it.Do more. Enjoy welding again...Be wary of The Numbers: Figures don't lie,. but liars can figure.Welders:2008 Lincoln 140 GMAW&FCAW2012 HF 165 'toy' GTAW&SMAW1970's Cobbled together O/A
Reply:You will have much better results with smaller filler...Try some 1/16" and you'll see....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Brass fitting onto a stainless pipe? Either way it looks really cool. That's the stuff I read about in my welding manual, but haven't gotten a chance to try yet.
Reply:I don't know know if it's a brass flange on a stainless pipe.. Pics could be misleading looks like stainless with a glare or something. Looks good either way! Op: what's the material?
Reply:Thanks everyone for the support! As far as material, it is machined mild steel. The prints called for 1/4" weld. I didn't want to walk the cup with 1/16 and end up putting to much heat into it. Live and learn. I learned how to keep the tungsten sharp when welding aluminum. I turned the ac balance up to 7. Helped a lot. Also I have a hard time with the 1/16 balling up before I can dip the rod at that heat. Trying to learn foot pulsing. Still working on the timing so that I can get consistency.
Reply:That's because you have to much arc length if the filler balls. That looks real good if its your first time tig welding

Reply:You change the arc length by holding the torch closer. You didn't build that.'85 Miller AEAD-200LE
Reply:Ya hold the torch closer to the puddle. No more than a 1/8 away or atleast try not to. I use mostly 1/16 for everything for steel except real thin stuff. And 3/32 for AL except real thin stuff.
Reply:Thank you for the reply peoples. I know that you are correct. I think that it will help out greatly.

Reply:Learn how to walk cup, pull tungsten in and don't dip rod, when u walk u melt rod every time u go up an down , 3/32 or even 1/8" rod at around 115 to 140 amps and move fast forward , Hot and Fast will look greatSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
