Can the deck of a Lawnboy mower with a magnesium deck be welded successfully? If so.....what rod is recommended?
Reply:It could be welded, although is it worth it? I am sure the magnesium will be very dirty and hard to weld. Use a mag rod. Didn't state what process I would think tig?
Reply:AZ92A Mag. $110+ per pound. AC TIG.Last edited by ManoKai; 03-15-2015 at 12:09 PM."Discovery is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think what nobody else has thought" - Albert Szent-Gyorgyi

Reply:You can pick up a few rods of mag from a boat prop repair shop.Welding/Fab Pics: www.UtahWeld.com
Reply:I have welded them years ago with tig. The older ones were magnesium.
Reply:Sounds like a crummy job. Very dirty material to clean. Will make it hard to weld with good results. Might be better off cutting out a patch and riveting it on.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720 |
