A buddy I work with has a gold lens but when your Welding it'sAll white instead of gold. I cant seem to find these anywhere. He said they were discontinued due to the reflection or something. I'm looking to buy a #9-10 shade white lens.
Reply:http://www.phillips-safety.com/store...hjv2d1srm647q4The gold one about half way down the page. I wouldn't say it's "white" when you're welding but they are pretty da*m clear
Reply:+1 on the phillips gold lens, best ive found ( or can get my hands on  )dave
Reply:The lens your talking about is going to be a Green Diamond Gold. I'm pretty sure, the only 2 I know of that see a white puddle is Green Diamond Gold and the Vintage lincol super visibilitys, not the newer ones. If it doesnt say Lincoln Supervisibility on it, then the lense probably just has the Heat numbers of it written somewhat along the bottom of the lense, centered, on the gold side of the lense, lemme kno if im right. I'm pretty sure thats the lens, and if so it was discontinued about 7 years ago. Not really discontinued, it was made by ORS Nasco, and they merged the lens with Anchor brand. They claim its the same lens, made by the same company, and the same Gold lamination, but its not. You can try an Anchor lens yourself, I've tried about 10 diff Anchor lens, but they aren't the same, and they are HARDDD to find, trust me I've been searching for about 6 months for one now.. Seems as if the AO Weld Cool lens is more popular, and people want an arm and a leg for them. But anyways, this probably wasn't much help, but I think we are talking about the same lens anyway.
Reply:And yeah, as far as lens' out there now, the phillips safety gold lens is about the best your going to find, thats what i use now in a shade 10. It's a pretty clear lens for the money. The puddle to me, tig welding, is a really really light green. When I think of the puddle, I think of key lime pie lol, just what it reminds me of. Light light, lime color maybe? I don't know but its a nice lens. If you come across a Green Diamond Gold, let me know I will pay for one. Good luck buddy! Check local welding supplies, some still have them on the shelves.

Reply:Thee link, eet has "words".....AND a downloadable .pdf spec sheet:http://www.phillips-safety.com/store...hjv2d1srm647q4Our Athermal Green/Gray Welding Lenses are of the highest quality glass, made by Schott Glass in Germany. This glass is unlike the Chinese glass on the market today; it has none of the distortions, color variations, striations, bubbles or inclusions that are prevalent in most Chinese welding glass lenses. It offers excellent UV and IR protection while reducing eye strain from its lack of distortion. Available in shades 4-14.
Reply:I have read that the Phillips gold were good as well and thought about buying one, just picked up a HOBART gold lens, it was $8.99 and made of glass as well. I also heard the HONEYWELL ones were good but they are polycarbonate, not sure which is better glass or plastic but if I was to guess I would say glassLast edited by Spar-X; 05-29-2012 at 08:14 PM. Reply:Glass is ground parallel so there is less distortion between the two surfaces of the lens than plastic.
