What the best lincoln diesel welder for welding pipe and bridges. thanks Jim
Reply:I think you'll get an assortment of answers on that one. I am gonna GUESS that most are going to say SA200."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:look at the new 300 sae from lincoln that is my next machine for sure you can't go wrong with that machine
Reply:I am going to be going with a Vantage 300D but really with a Lincoln you cant go wrong. They have been doing it right for a long time.
Reply:I was think of a vantage 500 with a Perkins diesel, and I don't want to make a mistake when I spend they much.
Reply:The 500 is a great machine, but it is a very expensive machine. If you can afford it, more power to you.Belive me if I had the cash id have one. I am getting a Vantage 300 because it is the best machine I can afford, and it will do everything I need to do.
Reply:The vantage welds very nice on pipe and bridges. I have a airvantage 500 for sale on ebay check it out.

Reply:I'll second what Fredthewelder said. The new SAE 300 is the best engine drive Lincoln has right now. Guys here in the Marcellus region are foaming at the mouth over that thing. It's even better than a SA 200 because of the continuous amp control. (basically a big rehostat) There's no need to adjust engine speed, roll the rack or anything else.
Reply:I would suggest getting your lws to demo or lease one to try. All the machines suggested are different. The vantage machines are inverter technology. The SA and SAE series are dc generators.Miller Pro 30068 SA 20064 SAF 300305 G Lincoln gasserMiller 210
Reply:Now that I agree with. Try before you buy - if you can. lol That way you won't have no surprises, or shouldn't have at least. lolIf I were up on a bridge - without a remote - then I'd probably want a Vantage. BTW: The Vantage is chopper technology, not inverter technology. An inverter is just that, it inverts the newly created DC back into AC to convert it back to dc at a must higher hertz. A chopper chops, not invert. The difference (to the best of my knowledge) is about 20,000 hertz. Good luck man
Reply:Slowhand,You are exactly right on the chopper technology. I forgot that was the system in the engine drive lincolns.Miller Pro 30068 SA 20064 SAF 300305 G Lincoln gasserMiller 210
