I got a call today guys wants to sell a sa 400. Unknown year with diesel motor. Runs but will not weld. He said he replaced the brushes but still will not weld. He wants 300 for it. Is this a good deal? What could I look for to try to fix it? Thanks for any help this will be my first machine!

Reply:Thanks!
Reply:Fix could be as simple as wiring or as complex as shunt coils. 300 is still a good deal for a diesel machine.
Reply:That's a good deal for sure, the SAE machines put out a great arc. Is it a Detroit-Diesel or a Perkins engine?RD 1984 Chevrolet C30 welding truck1966 Lincoln SA200 Continental F162 1942 Lincoln SA200 Hercules IXB-51991 Lincoln LN25
Reply:Get a serial number and code number off the tag to find out the year or look for code number stamped on generator barrel if tag is gone.
Reply:Another question would be do you really need a 400A welder? If to be used for routine 90-150A welding it won't be very efficient from a fuel consumption stand point. But yes, $300 is a good deal even if you have to put a few hunderd more in it to get it welding.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:Dang that must be a big machine. I have an SAF 300 that is way longer than an sa200.
Reply:I'll take as many as you can get for that price! |
