Hey guys, last summer I made an iron fence for my dad and I made a jig to help me make the fence panels. The jig was to help make sure each panel was square and to help me make them quicker. I just uploaded a video of the jig on youtube. I thought this might be helpful for anyone looking to make their own iron fence. Its not perfect but it will get the job done. My video is at www.retroweld.comThanks!Lincoln Electric Power MIG 216, Lincoln Electric Precision TIG 225, Hypertherm Powermax 45 Plasma Cutter.Videos of things I make @ www.Retroweld.com" target="_blank">www.Retroweld.com or search "RetroWeld" on YouTube.
Reply:You could knock out some panels with that set up.
Reply:Do you have any problem with the horizontal bars warping since you weld them all on one side? I've had that problem before and had to put a reverse bow in the panel to get it to come out straight. That was with larger material though.Nice jig by the way.GraysOrnamentalIron.com

Reply:Nice jig ,tndude! Good job on the video also. There's prob lots of informative vids out there by very talented people but I can't watch them because of poor filming or the mere fact they can't verbalize.:

Reply:super looking fence and a great jig to make sure all is square, thanks for sharing
Reply:From what I saw you weld the panels to the post then paint, is that correct?
Reply:Gerry1964: Thanks!Double Y: I primed the panels first then I put the finish coat on after I welded them to the post. I don't think it matters provided its not going to rain. Just don't paint where you plan to weld.Lincoln Electric Power MIG 216, Lincoln Electric Precision TIG 225, Hypertherm Powermax 45 Plasma Cutter.Videos of things I make @ www.Retroweld.com" target="_blank">www.Retroweld.com or search "RetroWeld" on YouTube. |
