Is it possible to run a wirefeeder off of a old sa200?
Reply:Yes, sort of. You can run a VS type feeder on a CC machine like that. Something like an LN 25, Super 32P, 8 VS or 12VS would work on that if set to CC mode. However it will not run short circuit mig well. The VS feeder can't adjust fast enough to mimic CV well that way. You can run larger FC wires in spray well, and it's done all the time with heavy structural steel. Overhead and vertical are usually a PITA using spray however. Not what most people think about when they want to use a "mig".If you want to do "thin" metal, say under 3/16" or so you will not be happy. If you need to lay down a lot of metal, especially in the flat or horizontal position it will work fine. Given a choice however, one of these run from a CV capable machine will do a much better job..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
