dewalt battery welder pack???

So i was checking out the dewalt battery powered  welder. Im wondering if one could use the power supply and use it on a inverter welder like maxstar? The price 3k plus ouch! But if i could purchase the power pack and use it on my current welders it may be something im interested in. Has anyone looked into this idea?  Do other companies make power packs for welders. The salsman stated one can weld 4hours on 100amps with the dewalt setup. Any info or input would appreciated

Reply:Size is an issue my friend. Running a inverter generator is fine as well. Though the thought of cordless powerd welder is pretty cool. And could be handy

When the battery goes dead since its a dewalt you know a new battery alone will cost almost almost as much as the new machine did.My welder power inverter could be reproduced with AGM lead acid batteries for around $1,000. Reply:That Dewalt welder is actually made by Fronius and they have it under the model name the AccuPocket 150  if you were getting one i'd get the Fronius brand not only so people wont hate because its a Dewalt but because of the warranty issues it may have.

Reply:I always find it funny when people say something is a waste of money because they can "build" it cheaper. You can build yourself a car cheaper than buying a new one too. You can build your own house cheaper than buying one. You can raise your own cow for cheaper steaks than buying from the grocery store. So I guess all that is a waste of money buying too.... Not everyone has the same means or know-how.

Reply:Yeah that is true. I use one to power a pure sine inverter and I think it weighs 70 to 75 pounds.My lithium pack and 2000 watt samlex pure sine inverter weighs around 50 pounds total. I have only ever attempted to use it with my mig. I think with my transformer based tig it would only run 60 or 70 amps max. Reply:Only 25lb?Something seems a little fishy about that.Let's say the welding power source is like an inverter, it's going to have to weigh 10 to 15 pounds it's self then the battery, let's say it is 15 pounds of lithium batteries. That is only going to hold about 0.9 kwh, with about 0.6 or 0.7 useable. The only way you could tig weld for even close to an hour is if you were using running less than 50 amps.
