I have a (crank handle) 250/250 square top with a broken front rotor support and brake.I need to know if anybody has ever replaced one of these. On this welder the rotor will have to be removed from the shaft just to remove and replace the support/brake. Talked to one guy at lincoln and he was not sure how it went together.Trying to get more information from the parts department.I don't want to send this welder to the scrap yard. So a little help from you guys that like to rebuild these welders. How does this part of the welder come apart..
Reply:I will let you guys know what I finally found out. On all the ideal arc 250s. The sector gear and rotor assembly are all welded together. In order to replace the front rotor support. the sector gear has to be cut off and then welded back on in the same place after the new front support is installed. The front support is available as a replacement part. The sector gear and rotor assembly is not. It is considered part of the transformer.
