I've got an ln-25 suitcase feeder and I'd like to add a contactor to it. Has anyone else done this?Ian TannerKawasaki KX450 and many other fine tools
Reply:i inquired about it. pretty much your just adding completely new guts to the case and it becomes completely not worth the effort.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:What's the code # of your LN-25?Lincoln contactor kit # K443-2 can be used for code #s 10500 and 10558.Kit #K443-3 is applicable to code #11100 and above.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:I have a contractor I pulled off a miller spool gun controller (100SG C?).  I don't know if that would help you or not. It is surplus to me now, I used it on a bobcat then moved the spool gun to a mig that only needs the controller. It has two activating wires and the input and output leads. I am away from the shop for a week, I'll look up the specs when I get back.
Reply:If from an SGA100C, be advised the coil voltage is 115AC.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:I am pretty sure it is, I'll check but I'm away from the shop for a week.
Reply:Yeah, but I think he is right about my SGA100C having a 110V contact coil.  So it probably isn't going to work for his application.
Reply:Adding a contactor today to an LN 25 will depend on the code number and the main pcb inside. The older units had a contactor driver pcb mounted on the back of the front panel. The driver pcbs are still available from Lincoln. There are three different boards. Which one you need will depend on your code number and age of unit. They changed the design some time back and put all the driver circuits on the main pc board. You can get the owners manual for your code number and look up the part number for the contactor kit for you machine. It might still be available. It will have the driver pcb contactor and all mounting hardware. If not, with a little help from Lincoln you might be able to piece together a kit by ordering all the parts  you need. The contactor has a 12 volt DC coil and needs high current to pull in. The go no go test for these contactors is a car battery. The code number and the part number of you main pcb is needed to figure out what you need. The kits from lincoln used to cost over $500.The driver pcb list from $230 to  $320. You will have to order the contactor from Lincoln to get the mounting bracket. You can get one from profax much cheaper but it does not have shields or mounting brackets. Just the bare contactor and two coil wires.price on the contactor is $550 to $600 list
Reply:After looking at the SGA100C contactor when it was apart, it makes me wonder if you couldn't just make your own with a 24V truck starter solenoid. Basically it was just a 110v relay switch capable of high amperage.
