Saw this on my Cl, and just had to have it.$200 cash, for the machine, and roughly 200 feet of nice lead. She welds nice.Yeah, I suck....Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Reply:You got a deal. It can weld nice
Reply:Much smoother arc, as apparent in the finished bead, than my little crackerbox.  I don't get that smooth of an arc until I fire up the Ranger."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:You do suck....around here those DC machines sell for $500 plus at farm auctions. I've even seen the off types like Smith Roles fetch well over that... some day...some day...... Reply:Great score!
Reply:Cosmetics are easy to sort out. I'd nail any running round top for fifty bucks and I already have too many welders...
Reply:Nice score, leads are easily worth $50-75 by themselves.  What kind of current will this machine draw at full amperage?
Reply:I don't recall max amps (manuals are on Lincoln site) but you can run them for most home use tasks off a 50A breaker. I run my Miller 340 (not 330) off one (metal building, no possible fire hazard from any possible combination of failures lest the forum safety police start squalling) and that beast is capable of drawing much more. Obviously I don't max it out!
Reply:That one posted for $50 is a steal. If it was closer, I'd grab it as well and like Farmall, I have plenty of stick machines. Heck I'd probably sell my old AC/DC Tbolt for what that would cost me. I'm a die hard Miller fan, but I'd much rather have an old Idealarc like that than my Tbolt..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:I keep walking away from these at sales (when they go over $500) because I keep telling myself that the new 225/125's are coming down in price ( around here about $650 is a good sale). Has anyone road tested them both and compared to see if the new ones will keep up (aside from the obvious output differences) in weld quality? I'm starting to wonder if the old ones aren't still the better welder even at new prices... it sure seems like everyone else is thinking that way...250 amp Miller DialArc AC/DC StickF-225 amp Forney AC Stick230 amp Sears AC StickLincoln 180C MIGVictor Medalist 350 O/ACut 50 PlasmaLes

Reply:Yea... I was just checking the new prices.... around $2850 up here. Same question... old v.s. new.... will the new machine still perform like these have?250 amp Miller DialArc AC/DC StickF-225 amp Forney AC Stick230 amp Sears AC StickLincoln 180C MIGVictor Medalist 350 O/ACut 50 PlasmaLes

Reply:I'm shocked you are comparing the price of new cable with that of cable that is likely a couple decades old.  Used?  Absolutely, it's worth no more than $75...and that's assuming the jackets are completely intact, still pliable, and no signs of dry rot.  I will even concede that $100 isn't a terrible deal for someone who needed it right now, but you can get brand new 1/0 cable for $1.78/foot shipped.  1/0 will handle 300a up to 200', at least according to Lincoln.http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-0-AWG-WELD...item2a4eee3ea82/0 can be found for $2.50/ft...you are getting ripped off by your dealer.http://www.ebay.com/itm/100-2-0-EXCE...item2a498fbf7bBut, if you still think used cable is worth $4/foot, I'll cut you a deal and sell you all you want for $3/ft... Anyway, back to the thread at hand.  It still is a great deal, and I would love to find one for $200!Last edited by Jason280; 05-08-2015 at 12:58 AM.

The fool that bought it says "what would I ever do with leads that long".  I don't think you can ever have long enough welding cable.
Reply:I bought about 200 feet of used 1/0 leads in really nice shape for $350.  Came with a nice lead hanger on a roll-around cart."USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA  Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder
