weldanpower 150

i have a weldanpower 150 with a kohler engine engine the code on the welder is 9675 the serial number is a-1188946. i dont have ne specs for the motor itself but lookin at welders onhere and the kohler website its a k241.it looks similar to the ones i seen on here but not exactly. my motor looks like 59halfsteps bt the welder itself is different i seen that theres several spec numbers for this motor can any one be of assistance i need a few important parts such as an exhaust valve and the rod that from the front engine cover but the kill switch to the governor im guessin its called the throttle control

Reply:I have a Weldanpower 150 with a Kohler mill.  Runs like a top.  I had it out to exercise it this past weekend and discovered it wasn't making power.  I opened her up and I found one of the slip rings laying under the shaft.  The ring had a split and that's how it fell off the shaft.  I'm bummed because Lincoln has no parts for it anymore.  Any suggestions?  I use it primarily for emergencies and if I can't make the generator run, I might buy a generator head from Northern Tool to put on the Kohler.

Reply:I'm located in northern Ohio between Cleveland and Toledo.  I've just about got the machine split, It is all loose, now I need to insert the through-bolt and give it a whack.  What sort of ways do you have up your sleeve to fix it?  I thought about epoxying the broken ring back in place, using a hose clamp to keep it in place while the epoxy sets, and soldering a new wire in place that connects it to the other ring.  But I fear that the split will cause the brush to wear too fast.  I suppose I could fill the crack with solder and then polish it, but I'm not sure about how good a polish job I can get done.  I even thought about having a new ring machined if I knew what material to make it from.  Even better, would be to find a good rotor from an otherwise bad machine.
Reply:Well I got everything but the rotor off.  I see that the wire I spoke of connects the broken slip ring to the rotor winding, not the other ring.  I tried hitting the reinserted through-bolt but the rotor is not coming loose.  I think I'll need to rig up some sort of puller to pull or push on the rotor while I hit the through bolt.
