A local farmer has a welder for sale and I'd like a opinion on value. It is a military unit and the data plate reads in part: Libby Welding Company Model LM-62 Manufactured 1970 Hours 320The welding controls read: SAE 300I'm guessing this is a Lincoln SAE-300 welder that Libby packaged for the military. It has a GM 271diesel, runs and, welds fine with approx 100' of 1/0 leads. This thing is huge, weighs over 5000#s.Any value above scrap?
Reply:We had a Hobart with a 271 detroit very loud and if your not a diesel mechanic I would not want anther one to us very much. Its a extreme welder It would need to be cheap. A friend gave me a SAE- 400 becauce of its weight.
Reply:Sounds rather interesting. If you are not interested, I was wondering where you / it are? and how much he is looking for?Bruce DeLaetHeavy Equipment Mechanic and Welder1948 SA-200 short hood1949 LincWelder 1801963 SA-200 red faceMiller S-32-P
Reply:if you don't like your neighbors it would be a great way to torment them with that screaming detroit. other than that its probably only really worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. I would say in the $1000 range if it welds.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:Thanks for the info I have several projects so I'm not really interested. He is asking $1500Scrap value would be close to $750 for the welder (assuming data tag is correct) and then what he could get for the leads.Location is approx 60 mi East of Atlanta The running and welding fine in my original post is based on seller's info, I haven't run it. |
