Hello, I have been looking at AC/DC tigs for awhile now. Would love to have a new inverter machine but they have a nice price tag. I recently came across a Hobart 250 amp Tigweld machine with water cooler and torch. Also an air-cooled torch as well is to be included in the package for $500. Now the guy shared the tungsten inside the machine between two contacts needs to be replaced do to while welding aluminum it welds as if one is welding dirty metal. I have been looking over the web for information on the machine but have not gotten very far. Tigwave comes up all the time just not tigweld. How are these machines or should I just hold out and save for a inverter welder. Space/power in the shop is rather limited. It has been a while since I have tig welded so I am going to have a lot of work ahead of me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Reply:Something for you to read: http://www.hobartwelders.com/weldtal...roubleshootingIf your shop is short of space and particularly short of power, that machine may be some trouble for you. I'd be particularly concerned about power requirements of the transformer tig machines. Not saying it won't work for you but it may not be what you really want.
Reply:I do have 220v access just have to run a bull cord from the range outlet. I do it all the time running my millermatic 185. I will be sure to read the posted material. Thanks |
