Air Couplings That Don't BLOW???

Anybody have a source for decently-priced compressed-air hose couplings (quick-connect) that don't SUCK (or don't BLOW)?I made the mistake of buying them from HFT and it seems like they ALL leak whenever you move them. I swear, I hear those things hissing in my nightmares...Thanks in advance.
Reply:I’ve been using the Milton high flow couplers. 762 maybe or 764?You can get them at Northern tool. The stuff they sell at Harbor freight and Home Depot is junk. Miller 211Hypertherm PM 451961 Lincoln Idealarc 250HTP 221  True Wisdom only comes from Pain.
Reply:One thing that really helps with the life of the couplers is to have a short whip hose on any impact type tool. Air hammers and needle scalers are the worst. I use the Parker push-lok hose, no clamps or crimp fittings.

Reply:The old HF 3/8" couplers suck, but the newer "Merlin" automotive-style couplers are bit better (slightly better fit).  I don't use anything smaller than the 3/8" size stuff.For the least restriction if you have air-hog tools, Milton G-style high flow couplers and fittings.   Fittings are cheap on Amazon.  Couplers sometimes Ebay has them cheaper, sometimes Amazon.  Buying in 5- or 10-packs is cheaper-per-unit than buying singles. 1st on WeldingWeb to have a scrolling sig! Reply:Air fittings are well worth the "name brand" investment,,I have been VERY happy with anything Parker, or Milton.AND, it seems like when I have purchased Milton, it is very low cost,, approaching HF,,I would only buy Northern if they stocked Milton,, which is possible.

Reply:My shop is for general repairs of my own, so it's stocked with the cheapy Milton couplers... high flows on the half inch lines and just the regular M fittings on the 3/8. If I was going to start over I'd go all high flow. When I was painting we used Devillbis high flows. Reply:I am not an industrial user by a long shot but I do use air at pressures between about 80 and 120psi. I use what you would probably call "automotive" couplers - Nitto type - and, at least for me, they don't leak or pop.US connectors seem to use NPT whereas most others use BSP. The problem is that these threads are very close - 1/4" NPT is 18 threads per inch and 1/4" BSP is 19 threads per inch. I complained once that the optional air filter for a plasma cutter was NPT whereas the connection on the cutter was BSP. I told them I could only screw the connector in one or two threads by hand - they told me to user a spanner.So, I have no problem with Nitto couplers so long as suppliers supply the correct thread. Reply:Even Nitto brand. One side has BSPT and the other NPT . NICE They must sell both in both thread styles. These were suggested matches on Amazon. Reply:Yes, Nitto and other couplers are available with both threads - NPT and BSP. NPT is generally available in North America and BSP elsewhere. I forget what the specification says but I think the male threads should be tapered but not all are meaning that a thread sealer is required.Jack
Reply:Thanks, everyone, for all the great suggestions and helpful intel. I appreciate it. I guess if I go with Miltons (or whatever manufacturer), I need to buy both the female coupler and the male fittings that mate up with it.
