I had been planning on building a new welding table for quite some time. I had a pretty good idea of how it should be but was (as usual) struggling somewhat with logistics. Since discovering the  thread started by Rustyshackleford (Brett) I have been working with John from Texas Metal Works on a custom table with some unique features. I’m usually the type to build things myself but in this case.....My cost for locally laser cutting the pieces alone would have been considerably more than my entire purchase price having John build it. It has been a several month process incorporating my ideas into a buildable product from a manufacturing standpoint and John has been very patient with me. Hopefully my input will result in future welding table options/upgrades available from Texas Metal Works. Here are a few random photos taken during construction.  The table size without extensions is 40” x 80” with a 1/4” table top braced from the underside to achieve and maintain flatness. A photo of underside. Note the 2inch square holes at each corner of the table. These line up with the oversized 3” square tube legs I specified to accommodate the 2.5” receiver tubing for four vertical receivers. Bolt on plates with custom slots to accommodate vertical receivers ...Heavy 11 gauge center mounted drawer with industrial slides ...To be continued.......Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk:

Reply:This is a pic of my welding table base (sitting on a welding table). I opted to delete the casters and add cross bracing to accommodate moving the table with a pallet jack.  Adjustable height swivel pads will replace the casters and allow for levelling the table. The lower bracing also allowed for extra storage area.  Initially I planned on two powder coated MDF panels mounted flush with the crossmembers so stuff could slide out easily but John from Texas Metals suggested black HDPE panels which dropped right in the cross bracing.  No painting necessary or dealing with inevitable scratching. Plus totally moisture resistant. I had John laser cut and pedestal mount an intermediate shelf for storing sh*t but mainly for interest and aesthetics.  Even had matching holes cut (but a few thou in diameter larger to allow for the paint). View from the underside of intermediate shelf showing streamlined gussets for the suspended pedestal look. And here’s a pic of the base with its special BLUE multi-coat powder process....Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk:

Reply:That is a work of art Lis!  Actually, from the photos you’ve posted your whole shop is a work of art!  I’ve tried to keep a neat shop but usually after a full day I’m so worn out and sore the last thing I want to do is sweep up the shop.Miller 350 DynastyMiller TrailblazerMiller 625 Plasma Lincoln Power MIGVictor oxy/acetyleneHyperthem 85

Reply:My LSW is pretty nice.Still no plan on a table. I'm going to look at the those down the road I told you about. I do have this plan, no more gym equipment or I'm going to charge what I should charge. If they walk they walk. I try and stay under "Rogues fitness" price  but  I can not compete with a robot. If I lose work fine, I can work on the old car, do art and furniture. If I do art and furniture I'm  will drop insurance. Plus the "maker space looks like its going to happen. I sold $22,000 worth of gym equipment but really did not net enough to amount to much. RANT OVER lol. I may send a PM about the art furniture world.Originally Posted by ReebzMy LSW is pretty nice.Still no plan on a table. I'm going to look at the those down the road I told you about. Reply:I like the wheels/chocks on the bottom set.... I've been thinking about something like that to keep my bandsaw in place. But on the couch? Oh man.... I can see a million stubbed toes and several new words in the dictionary over that one. Looks nice though...he needed to narrow up the axle and protect it with a coffee shelf like the table.Last edited by whtbaron; 01-14-2021 at 01:45 PM.250 amp Miller DialArc AC/DC StickF-225 amp Forney AC Stick230 amp Sears AC StickLincoln 180C MIGVictor Medalist 350 O/ACut 50 PlasmaLes
