Reply:The US Navy had me standing in a weld booth,, running 7018, 8018, 11018 for 8 hours a day,, in the year 1971,,We only welded overhead, and vertical,, EVER. Before we finished the 16 week class, I asked the instructor what I was supposed to do if I ever had to weld something flat, like on the floor???He said, "Learn to stand on your head!!"Does that make me an "OLD TIMER" ??(Actually, back then, the best x-ray quality welds that I could do was overhead, it was much easier to see everything, rod position, arc length,  etc,,)
Reply:Wow we have lost old time welders, that’s sad
