Hey guys so I've been out of the practice for a while now I haven't welded anything since my senior year in high-school. I'm wanting to pick it back up since my daughter has shown some interest in it I'm thinking of picking up a flux 125 machine at harbor freight. My question is will a 180 amp mig torch work on that machine? I'm assuming 180 amps I'd max and considering the machine is only rated at 125 amps. Just trying to figure all this out I work full time and I would like to do this on the side. Thanks guys
Reply:The problem with the 120 volt welders are flip the breakers a lot. Some will wildcat a 30 amp plug. The welder was designed for parts of world using 220 volts and they use a 16 amp plug. Dave

Reply:I appreciate all the replies. I'll either buy the amico or I'll shop around some. I had an esab multi process welder but was stolen a couple of years ago and just can't really justify spending that much money right now maybe on down the road but for now a cheap one will do. Again thanks guys for the help.
Reply:I believe that Harbor Freight 125 is currently available, it's an Excellent machine for it's purpose!
Reply:An even cheaper alternative would be a small dual-voltage stick welder. That will be simpler for her to learn on.* Amico MIG-130A Flux, Dual Voltage. Truly portable!* HF MIG-180 with all the mods. Heavy.* Grizzly H8153 Stick/Tig 130/160.* Wards PowrKraft AC-230. Stick & carbon arc.
Reply:I agree the dual-voltage welders are best of both worlds 🌎. Dave
