I miss my old S.A.M. mig welder. I actually had two of them. The first one died durring a duty cycle test. My fault. The second one bit the big one in a building fire (not caused by me). The part I liked about them the best was that they had amp and wire speed control on the torch with one control knob. I was spoiled by that feature. How come no one else makes something like that......or do they. I haven't seen any.
Reply:S.A.M? Never heard of this brand.
Reply:They were produced by Control Systems of Ontario. They must have gone out of biz a long time ago. I just did a search and came up empty. They did exist though. I had 2 of them.
Reply:I do believe controlled systems was bought out by AMD. Another Canadian co.Will have to check my old phone book for my notes.
Reply:Do you still have the old Controlled Systems MIG welder? I am looking to acquire one.
Reply:Still looking? I have a fully functioning unit.
Reply:Lorch, EWM and Fronius all do welders with torch controls. They are proper industrial quality machines made in Europe. There are a few others now also, like Bohler, Parweld etcMurphy's Golden Rule: Whoever has the gold, makes the rules.
Reply:Can you post photos of the inside of the welder. Most time is the power supply die which is simply to replace from a electronic supplier.Dave
