Good day, community!I'm new here, and I'm hoping that we can all learn from one another. I've planned to buy a tig welder for little home projects and garage maintenance, but I'm not sure which one to choose. I looked into welders under $500, such as Hitbox, Everlast units, and Yeswelder, but they weren't up to par. I'm looking for high-quality welding equipment, not this junk. I can get a welding equipment for under 1000.  I've chosen Primeweld 225x, Ahp 203Xi, and Weldpro, however as a newbie, I'm not sure which of these three units is the best. Which one is a good to consider in terms of excellent performance on a ground. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Reply:Primeweld since it has higher amps and really good customer service.
Reply:I can't speak about the Ahp 203Xi, and Weldpro because I don't own one, and haven't used one of them either. I can say the Primeweld 225x has woriked well for me for almost a year now. Having that extra 25 amps and duty cylce make a big difference to me. I have run some long aluminum jobs with mine, like 2 sixteen foot welds in about an Hour and a half on 1/4 aluminum diamond plate. Torch got unbearably hot, torch hose left a red welt on my leg, but the machine performed as it should have. I have also done quite a bit of stainless sheet metal, and sanitary tubing, and it performed well on that too. Its also a pretty good stick welder too, it runs 6013,7014,6011,&7018 really well, it will run 6010 but not as well as the others. The things that set it apart from some of the others are the C-K torch, a nice foot pedal(looks just like my $400 lincoln K870), a fairly decent regulator, and a torch switch so you can use the 4T option. Just my opinion, I might be biased, as I"ve had good luck with my unit. I have other much larger, and heavier units, but my primeweld has proven to be the handiest so far. I have dealt with the company over warranty issues, and they resolved them right away. They even paid for the shipping (UPS) .  Good luck with whatever you choose.RegardsAirco 250 ac/dc Heliwelder Square waveMiller Synchrowave 180 sdMiller Econo Twin HFLincoln 210 MPDayton 225 ac/dcVictor torchesSnap-On YA-212Lotos Cut60DPrimeweld 225 ac/dcPrimeweld mig180Miller AEAD-200
Reply:Get a miller or Lincoln there both great and money well spent! We've done so much, for so long, with so little. Were now qualified to do anything with nothing !
Reply:I have a Harbor Freight Chicago 170 welder it works great.  It light duty but only $220.00.https://www.harborfreight.com/170-am...der-68885.htmlIf use it everyday I would buy Hobart,  Lincoln or Miller. Dave

Reply:Never try hf tig. I guess the hf tig is junk and hf mig is good .For TIG I use Victor works great on a 110° day. It also can be use by some types of electronics too.Dave

Reply:The first mig welder I purchased in 1979 cost over $2,000.00 (inflation today about $9,000.00) I or my crew use almost every day from 1979 to 2004. You get what pay for but was used a lot too. I do not think if use 170 it would last a year but it a hobby welder today. Dave

Reply:I bet this is spam. Who chooses a TIG welder for their first welder? For "home projects and garage maintenance" why wouldn't you use MIG or flux core?Miller Multimatic 255

Reply:Another is this a good welder question with relatively no info other than garage maintenance and lacks the real position as Louie pointed out.  How did he come to the conclusion this is the machine for him and,,, new to welding etc?   If this is a first machine we are doing most who ask about a first welder a total disservice by not thumping them till they get a 200 class mig and go from there.www.urkafarms.com
Reply:Door Dave gets by with a 170,,, he lives in area without the rust repair and is well retired, the people that made the 180-210  have these guys pic on the wall for those machines, they worked really hard tuning, sizing them over the last few years and they are very competitive, both in price and quality.  Can buy a plain Jane, 180-190 for about the same dollArs they were 30 years ago,,, the only thing has driven the price up is added features, not that they aint good or nice but I am not trading up for them when I already own machines in this class.   In fact my next is to find a used Pro Mig 140 to be a little bro to one I have, I had one, let go, its nice that with 023 in it uses the same settings as a 180 running 030.www.urkafarms.com
Reply:My next 2 machines would be,,, something like the Klutch 120V.   Then the Esab 180 and or something similar with fussy start features if I was a daily user in awkward spots and ability to use 6010.www.urkafarms.com
Reply:Hello Community,I'm going to buy an tig welding unit but I'm stuck which welder should I buy because due to tight budget, I will prefer any welder under 1000 bucks. I have read reviews of different websites and also watched different videos but unable to decide the best welder. Need experts advice. Regards,Zaman
Reply:make sure your welder has burn back...my two cents
Reply:Good luck 👍 I can help with mig and fluxcore Dave

Reply:The HF tig has decent specs and you can take it back to the store if goes belly up (last I checked).  Trouble with almost any mail order brand is shipping for service if it's ever required.
Reply:Have you noticed we getting a lot one time posters. They ask a question and then never reply again 🙄. Dave

Reply:Give Everlast a chance. I understand looking for quality but the initial cost savings now will help you buy your gas, consumables, table, etc. Not to mention the occasional usage doesn't justify the huge $$$ imo. When you get your knowledge and skill honed, you'll have the $$$ flow to upgrade.
