Quick project for work. In this day and age everything has gone cordless, including our hydraulic extrication tools (better known as the jaws of life) which use an m28 battery. Disclaimer: There’s actually no welding at all involved here save for the misplaced hole I had to plug and re-drill.Anyway, I designed this in fusion 360. I utilized an available mesh file for the m28 clip itself, hacked off the back of it and put my own mounting holes. Drew a matching plate which was cut out of a scrap 1/4” piece of angle iron. Mostly posting it for the 3D printing aspect. We don’t discuss it much here with a moderately older bunch on the forum. Many view them as a toy, but they can be used as a real prototyping device for functional pieces that would be immensely more expensive in a metal/milled process. They also print with exceptional accuracy for what it is. Metal 3D printing is surely the future but for now this is the best I can personally have on hand.

Reply:Heres one of the tools in the platform the batteries power.Theyre pretty cool considering its a self contained 10,000 psi double acting hydraulic system.

Reply:As another 3-D printer user nice project that fits a need, printer should not be looked at a toy but a useful tool. Here is a simple tool I developed for use on a plasma table. I also have printed a drag knife for cutting sign vinyl on my table.

Reply:I mostly use PLA but have just started with TPU due to its flexible properties Prints great but at slower speeds. Here is a strap I drew up and printed for wrapping power cord or other cable type things, it is adjustable in length. It will close over 1-1/2" to 2-1/2" bundles. I also made some clips for snapping over an edge to hold down a cover on a project.

Reply:Nice work, both yall. How do you determine appropriate filament and longevity. I have ideas, was concerned about durability and weathering.
Reply:You guys are great! It was a year or so ago that, Forehire printed a spool for an electromagnet for a mag drill.Amazing to follow his work: printed the spool, calculated the wire needed, wrapped it, bedded it in the drill base with epoxy and, viola, working mag drill!I need to download cad or cnc software and get a “dummies” book. Also like following the plasma cnc builds you guys have done.

Reply:Very cool.I always wanted to buy some of these for my power tools but feel they are just way too over priced for what they are. Also, I had no idea they ran those tools off batteries these days. The shift just keeps coming. Can't wait until home 3d metal printing is attainable!Last edited by SlowBlues; 6 Hours Ago at 09:49 PM.
