Is it possible to weld A380 to 6061? Specifically I have a unique configuration part that requires a "lid" to be welded to it. The unique shape is A380, while the flat lid is machined 6061. Just wondering if it's possible? Thank you in advance for all your expertise!
Reply:MKinsey,A380 is a weldable cast aluminum alloy. I believe it would weld to 6061 without issue. I am not sure of the strength properties after welding. If a low strength solution would work for you, I would try it with 4043 or 4943 rod, and just be careful with it.Geoff |
