The other day I was using the v300 to power my miller extreme suitcase wire feeder and it was working great like it always did. The next I went to turn it on and nothing. I opened up the suitcase and couldnt see anything obvious, then I welded with some stick to make sure the v300 was working. Seeing as I couldnt find anything myself I brought it to the local electric repair shop. They checked the suitcase and it works fine!! Sooo
does anyone have any idea why the v300 wont power it up?? Im stumped.
Reply:V300 has to be set to Cv and terminals on. local/panel current/voltage control.Power switch on the feeder needs to be on. Use a test meter to confirm the welder has output and that the voltage is getting into the feeder. My guess you have a loose connection or broken sense wire. wire broken inside the insulation so it is not visible. Does your feeder have a voltmeter on it. It can be used to make sure weld voltage is getting into the feeder.
Reply:Thanks for the reply, those are settings I have it set to unfortunately the suitcase does not have a voltage meter. How do I check to see if the sense wire is the issue?Lincoln V300 proLincoln 180 mig pakMiller cst 280Miller 12vs extremePrimeweld 225
Reply:You will have to open up the case and follow the wire to its connection point.Place ohmmeter at each end and flex the wire. Pull stretch and twist. Look for short to change to OL. Or set to beep and listen to it start and stop.Miller feeders, the sense lead goes to the circuit breaker most of the time. Can be pulled off. Try removing the panel it is on or the front panel first, before trying to remove the whole inner panel. |
