I've been contracting for this company for almost 6 months now. Averaging an easy 40hrs a week. 3 miles from home. They say they'll keep me on as long as I can take it. lolI've done a pile of grapples for them and this one got bent when it was stuck in the grinder. I posted a pic on electrodes for comparison in case the new guys wonder about the size difference. The small on is a 7018 - 5/32 x 14" long and the larger one is a 7028 - 7/32 x 18" long. I run that at 280 amps.

I consume about 175 lbs of rod and about 125 lbs of wire a month, wire sizes range from .045 - 5/64s of flux core and shielded flux core.If you'd like to see what I do, feel free to take a look at my Instagram (link in my sig). I've only posted less than half of what I do because I don't always take pics, I'm 60 years old and work alone.

Reply:Looks good! Fixing heavy equipment is something I have always enjoyed. Most of the  heavy equipment that I have worked   on has been in  earthmoving. I would be interested in hearing about the advantage you find for the larger diameter 7024 rods over dual shield. When would you prefer to use them? Outside? Just curious, and I enjoy hearing other's perspective. Sent from my E6810 using http://tiny.cc/Forums_reader
