Was repairing a couple of vises that came on a pallet of stuff l bought at an auction. The 6 in one was missing the nut for the lead screw. l had a 8 inch record with a broken jaw that I had repaired and re broken. Note to self don't use a 6 foot snipe.Anyhow to the point of this post. The lead screw and nut of the 6inch is the same as the as the 8 inch and the sliding jaws slide is the same. Lincoln 350mpmiller regencymiller syncro wave 300
Reply:Wow. Interesting to know and nice fix. British Columbia must have more Record vises per capita than anywhere other than Britain. Here's some of mine.

Reply:Record seems to be the most common vise I see.I don't think they are super strong as I have seen several of them broken. The 8 inch I bought already broke at a farm auction for $1 I fixed it with brazing rod and used it for several years.I have a 8 Grey vise and it's lead screw is smaller than the Record. That Rea vise looks similar to a MonarchThat I have.
Reply:I haven't seen a Monarch. Have you come across a made in Canada Maple Leaf?

Reply:Here's my 6" Record. Been beating on it for many years. Haven't broken it yet.
