I am a new member ... I came on board because of Longevity. I have the Stickweld 140, Forecut 80i, Forecut 62i on my table and recently added the Mig 140.My first Stickweld 140 was about 4 yrs ago ... I abused it and beat the crap out of it ... put it on a low roll around cart and stored it under the welding table for years it never got covered up or cleaned ... Then one day up in smoke. Opened it up and it was full of metal shavings from the chop saw and grinder ... Called them to order another and was told it was under warranty ... if I pay shipping they would send a new one. I did. This led me to buy the 80i ... after sometime it blew the fuse holder ... called them and they sent that part ... so when I needed a plasma cutter on the table I again called longevity... the 62i another nice machine. I did have an issue with the hand torch completely burned out the head ... was told that was not a warranted piece so I bought a new hand torch and it was shipped out. When I hooked it up to the 62i I was getting intermtent firing ... I called and spoke to longevity. I was told the machine itself should be checked ... they emailed an RMA, shipping label paid for and I sent it in ... a few days later I got a call and was told they were going to replace the machine with a new 62i ... something to do with the inner board and that may have well been the cause of the hand torch failure ... I asked about the warranty on the hand torch and we addressed that and a machine torch was settled on .. new machine, new hand torch and new machine torch!!!SOOOO ... when I decided on a mig ... I called Longevity and as usual we came to an agreement.Heres the deal ... I never did much internet searching about the machines or the company 4 yrs ago ... just saw a review on a tractor forum ... NOW I joined here and just happened to punch in LONGEVITY into the search feature ...DAMN IT BOYS ... Am I just plain lucky with the product and the service? Or are the threads and post from a handful of folks and bad relations with Longevity? Are there a lot of satisfied customers that just don't take the time to talk positive?I've opened a huge can of worms ... but would like to hear from Longevity owners with success stories!!
Reply:Stick welder went udders up after a whole 4 years, and all it cost to replace it was shipping. Blown fuse holder, cooked head on a plazma torch, intermeittent firing on the next torch, more shipping back and forth and now you got a brandy new mig coming. Can't wait to see the "luck" you have with that.

Reply:Brag about them in 30 years or so. My Shopmaster is 31 years old and is in a welding for business shop and lasted that long. My S52 feeder is older than that and is still going strong and is used hard every day and still fine. When your stuff lasts that long then you can brag about it.Last edited by Bob; 01-25-2015 at 08:36 PM.

Reply:Never tried the product, Have had some harbor freight welders which are super low quality but they worked just fine. I had a burco mosa italy welder that was hated by many because of the chity quality pull starters but there was an easy fix to that problem without ordering parts, Lincoln called it the carriweld and hobart called it the rod runner. My brother owns it now and that little beast can lay some nice beads down with stick or tig.Lets hope this thread stays civil but I highly doubt it because some *u*t always ruins the fun

One thing I thought was very nice of Longevity. There is a member here, and on another site. Just a kid in his early teens. Some of us were getting ready to chip in and buy him a welder. Longevity stepped right up to the plate and gave him a new Stickweld 250!

Reply:Just to add my .02About 1995 I bought a Miller Dialarc HF - white face, circa 1978.Sold it in 2007ish. Before I sold it I tested every feature/timer even the water valve which I never used. It all worked perfectly. The only maintenance was the occasional blowing out of dust (part of shop cleanup).I did get some new rubber plugs for the cover of the Radiator 1 cooler (note: it was a Radiator 1 not a 1a) and Miller still stocked the parts. In 1995, I contacted Miller (before internet was all the rage) and they sent me a copy of the owners manual.Guess I just got lucky?Congratulations on having enough free time that you can sit around and wait for parts/new welders. For example, Yesterday I had to get a transmission out of a car. Its a hobby - so no paying customer. Wanted it out so I can work on it during the Snowmegedon. Had family event at 5pm. Even though money is not involved, tight scheduling is. A broken ratchet, air compressor, floor jack etc. would put me way behind. I have other plans for next weekend. As an analogy. My problem is removing a bolt - not figuring out how to fix a ratchet so that I have the right too so that I may remove a bolt.Con Fuse!

After taking a look at your past posts, I realized I deleted your very first one here....THAT ONE WHERE YOU SAID YOU WERE A DEALER FOR LONGEVITY.....Now, are you pulling a fast one on us here?It is beginning to look to me like some slick shill posting. I even gave it a chance.....

In my seven years on this board, I have come to find that most shills usually do a pretty fair job of making themselves look bad. Wether it's double talk, backtracking, excuses, stories, whatever. It always becomes apparent what the real deal is. That's why I usually let this stuff ride. It all plays itself out the same way it always does, then we mop up the crap and put it in the garbage can.Think I'm gonna hammer this in a few, but would like to get other mods input.Expert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948

Reply:Fortunately, I didn't hard delete that post.Copy and paste from the source************************Good Morning from Oklahoma ... I'm a new member!! I have a shop on my ranch where I build and sell hay equipment, grapples and accumulators for small square bales and hay caddy's for disc mowers, do local repairs and such.I use Longevity welders and Plasma cutter. My experience with the Longevity products ... the great product and the customer service that I have experienced thru Longevity. First my stickmate 140 that after 3 yrs was replaced (even though it was my fault!!) I've burned many a 50lb box of rods thru these awesome welders!!I recently put in a CNC table and put a 42i plasma on the table and simply loved that machine ... then I was talking things over with Longevity and upgraded to the 80i ... what a cutting monster that 80i is ...THEN I decided I wanted to use the 80i as a complete portable machine on my cart to roll around and use anywhere in the shop ... so once again I was on the phone and decided to give the all new 62i a whirl ... I'm going to dedicate this one to the plasma table ... stay connected 24/7 Well I've decide to take on a dealership!!!! So, with that said ... anyone who would like to talk about Longevity products just go to their website, decide on something and shoot me a PM.... I'm in the heart of the USA ...********* ... I am going to not only sell Longevity we are going to offer service and repair ... that side of it will probably not be profitable (cause they are so darn durable!!) And of course I'll have to tear into one!!As with all things new ...time ... it will take time to get to know all the products but I'm getting my feet wet!!!Look forward to working together !!!!Expert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948
Reply:I'm not even in the mood to deal with this one right now.To the OP, it would be a good idea to drop the pretense and don't play games. Not with me. Not right now. This stuff pops up again, I'm gonna hammer it and ask questions later.Expert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948 |
