I have a Everlast 256S machine that has a problem with gas delivery. When I use pre flow it works fine but when pre is over I get a loud sound of gas flowing from the side of the machine with no flow to the torch. I have not opened the machine yet but will tomorrow. Anybody have any idea of what I should be looking for? The machine has been working great until this. This machine has not been opened since I adjusted the points. All help would be greatly appreciated.Buddy3223

Reply:Buddy,What does your flow meter say? If your ball isn't floating, it isn't gas. Also, if you over pressurize the unit when using the plasma cutter, this can blow or loosen lines internally.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT
Reply:Well, I opened the machine today and found that the hose to the gas port was cut right at the connection. I cannot believe that the hose ever worked the way it was connected. I have been using the welder for several years and everything seemed to be working correctly. I replaced the hose with better quality hose and redirected to get a better angle on the fitting. I checked all hose and wiring connections on the machine and was puzzled to find a 10 mm nut glued to the bottom of the welder for what reason I cannot possibly understand. Everything fine now. I would like to thank everyone that replied to this post. Buddy3223
Reply:Well, as they say, that's your problem right there! I had an issue with mine, the gas solenoid was stuck; took it apart, cleaning it, and reinstalled. The arrangement of valve and hoses is a bit challenging but it got done. Glad you found your problem. |
