I see Hypertherm sent a sample of 45 amp gouging consumables with my new 45xp, that is great but since I have a butt load of 220798 and 220797 for the 85 will these be ok to use on the machine? I know they fit on the torch, but are for 65/85/105. I could just try it but wanted to know if it's a useless venture. I guess I will drive back into town to get marking consumables (if they even stock them) that was not in my starter pack

I should have read what come in the box

It is a nice looking unit.

Reply:Did you get the gouging torch too? I don't know if the larger amp stuff will work or not? I do know my 45 amp Thermacut consumables work great..

Messing around today cutting some 1 inch MS..

Reply:I just ordered the 088113, 20' 75 degree hand torch. I have both my other torches from the 85 also. I took everything out of the box yesterday, went to stack the 45 on top of my 85 on my stand at the back of my table and found out it won't stack, so I will have to come up with something there. Went back to get marking consumables and no dice, I will have to order them. I had my cylinder of argon and regulator all ready for some marking testing. We stood around and talked about how cool this would be to test the marking, the made the desision to put it all in the corner and get back to work. It will used next week for its first job cutting stair landings out, I will try the bigger gouging stuff then. Those plates for your press look awesome, I could use some of those. Mine are a bunch of scrap pieces I use now. I doubt if I cut the same though mine would turn out as good, I will just plan on mine being roughly the same shape just a lot more bevel! I will add it to the to do list.ESAB Rebels 215 and 235, ESAB HELIARC 281i, ESAB ET 301i, Hypertherm 85 and 45XP, Thermal Arc 185, TD 60i, HTP PRO PULSE 300
Reply:Could you give more detail on the marking consumable you refer to Thanks Mike

Reply:Jaws,by the way, miss my Esab 1600, and the larger Thermals.. The 60i got put on back order, so I canceled it. I am going to re-order it or maybe dig up some other Victor.. I like the higher cut height for general work.   Couple more shop pics, from the other side.. Took me forever to get things to flow correctly.. blast cabinet, and slip roll in the 20 ft container was the key to make it all work..

Last pic brings it back to Hypertherm.. You need to get some of these.. I can see in the auto world being super handy.. Gouging ones too.

Reply:Nice looking shop setup! Very clean, just like I try to keep mine. I have run out of room to add any new equipment. Been running some 20ft long cooling sections through lately and it seems me and my guys are always working around each other and leads strung everywhere. I did not see your TV anywhere? I binge watch Netflix shows sometimes while working.I will post some pics of the marking when I get it going. I am sure there will be a learning curve in sheetcam and Mach setup.ESAB Rebels 215 and 235, ESAB HELIARC 281i, ESAB ET 301i, Hypertherm 85 and 45XP, Thermal Arc 185, TD 60i, HTP PRO PULSE 300

Reply:I fixed my stacking issue when I want to switch out the 85 with the 45 on the table for marking, cables just swap right over. I guess a plus to this is I can use the hand torch on the table if I need without changing over the 85 when I have a bunch to cut and want to rip up the skeleton. This makes it easy now to grab the 45 and go if needed also.

Reply:I started going Vertical too, it's the only place left.. Not sure how a 45xp, and a 60i will work together,,

Have extra stuff for the 60i to run on the table..( digital probe, and voltage card) since there is no CNC interface out for it yet..If I set it up right with one more part, only a cat 5/6 cable change to swap.  Chris, your shop looks real clean too, considering your production..Everybody works a bit different, but clutter/cluster F is not my way.Other people handle it well, and can still find stuff..

Reply:Not sure why the 60i does not have an interface card package, seems strange to me? People would pay extra just to have it. I might have even bought it over the 45xp if it gouging and had an interface card, the marking for me is only a bonus, I have some ideas for it though. I like the Cutmasters, even my old ESAB Powercut 875 was a beast (heavy though), I used that and my Bug-O for years cutting up plate. The Plasma table was a must for me to get the work I have now, I don't know how I could do without it or my ironworker anymore.I have been pleased with the Hypertherm, I think I have had my 85 about a year and a half. Seems my LWS only really sells Hypertherm, and a ton of Miller welders. One thing I love about the 85 is I can throw a sheet of plate up on the table and cut nonstop 1/4 and up until I run out of metal. It has never failed me once, and the consumables do last a long time. Money well spent, no regrets.I try to keep the shop real clean, I only have roughly 2000 sq ft, it's only me and one other guy mostly unless I get real busy. We spend a lot of time cleaning up, and putting away tools, the only thing sometimes gets put off is cleaning the lathe, mill, cold saws, or bandsaw from chips. We sharpen tungsten and clean nozzles, check cylinder levels, change tips, wipe down welders etc everytime they are used. Good habits to have and ensures it's all kept in tip top shape. I only have several, companies I do work for regularly and its all repetitive specialty stuff mostly, the odd jobs that come in sometime seem like a waste of time. I bid on a city job last week and after all the work to get them drawings and a bid they totally changed what they wanted, I did not call them back, let somebody else deal with that headache.ESAB Rebels 215 and 235, ESAB HELIARC 281i, ESAB ET 301i, Hypertherm 85 and 45XP, Thermal Arc 185, TD 60i, HTP PRO PULSE 300
Reply:I had a few Esab cutters, and sort of wished I  setup the Esab 1500 (1125 too) for cnc work.. The hi freq in those machines would jump about a mile to the plate.. Good or bad depending on the cnc setup..

Set me on my way to figure out the Thermal machines.. The 45XP is a great little unit overall . The 60i is setup for gouging, so no real difference other then the hy-access/precision gouging consumables. The Victor has a good assortment of different gouging shape nozzles, so probably gain on arc-length with the more powerful 60i..(might get the 40 amps turned down a bit) Thinking it just might be a better thick plate machine, although nothing like the 85 Cutting 3/4 by hand with the 45XP is really pretty impressive for what it is..Marking is not really going to even get close to the quality of my scribe, but will have some use here, and there. Hopefully you got yours setup by now.https://store.cyberweld.com/plgoti1t...SABEgLgtPD_BwE
