Hello, I'm new to this board-- and really found this board while trying to search for Lincoln parts. I never welded for a living myself, but have considerable design experience--- with seasoned welders keeping me out of design problems. In retirement, I weld a lot. I sure need a Lincoln part. I have a Lincoln IdealArc 500/450 (single phase) Code #2927C Serial # AC78182. I badly need a NVR coil S-45 5-2-2. (This is the coil that engages the primary power contacts.) If I can't locate one of these in the next few days, I will put the machine back together and block the contacts closed with a piece of wood--- turning the unit on and off with the panel breaker. I did this once before, about 20 years ago.This machine really welds good, especially on low-amp requirements.Can anyone help me find this part?Also, can anyone give the age of this machine?
Reply:Looks to me like a generic magnetic starter could do the job for you. S 45 480 volts single or 3 phase starter is pretty common industrial part. I've had to go away from Lincoln for many parts for the older machines..They really do not want anyone working on them. Corporate logic now is 5 years..thats all they are required by law to service any more. No $$ in selling parts.. Just scrap it and buy new..just like every big screen tv..and car batteries.. Gotta keep the shareholders dividend up !!Enough of my old man rant..( it's true though) Pull that starter and set it on the counter at Platt Electrical and see what they can find. Reply:If you want to stay with Lincoln, do a Google search for Stumpfs Welding Supply in Mascoutah, Illinois. Call their number and ask for Jim.
