Ranger 8 dying intermittently

Hello all.  New to the forum.  I acquired a Ranger 8 with Onan engine and low hours (210) a year or so ago.  I use this welder infrequently but every time I do, this disappointing problem rears its ugly head.  The machine will die just as if the on/off switch was turned to off.  It doesn't matter if it's at high or low idle...it will even die while welding.  At first I thought it might be carb related so I removed the carb and tore it completely down, cleaned it well and re-installed it.  Problem persisted.  I checked fire and noticed that it stops firing.  It's as if some sensor is opening or closing causing it to stop firing and die.  The machine might run 10 minutes before it dies or it might run 30 seconds...it's unpredictable...and very aggravating.  Yesterday, I used it for a few hours and probably had to restart it 15 times.   Interesting thing is, it will always start right back up.  Has anyone experienced this before?  I'd hate to get rid of the machine just because of this.  I would hope it's something relatively simple.  Please help.

Reply:The coil was replaced before I got it so it's new.  I bypassed the oil pressure switch yesterday with no change.  By looking at the electrical schematic, it looks like it could only be the start/stop switch, oil pressure switch, ignition module or the coil....or the wiring in between.  I think I will replace all of those since I have to tear into it for further troubleshooting anyway.
Reply:What component give it the pulse to the coils. Not to versed on Onans but there should be some sort of magnetic pickup, reluctor wheel or whatever for this.
