I know this machine is heavy , but is it possible for 2 guys to pick it up and put in the back of my truck? There is one I'm buying a few hours away and they have no way to get it in my truck , said its all up to me. So can 2 guys pick one of these old roundtops up ? Thanks-art

Reply:I've managed to load some pretty heavy tools myself using a couple boards or ramps and sliding the object up rather than lifting. Thats often how I load my genset, plate compactor wheelbarrow compressor and other heavy awkward items. An engine hoist and some straps also works if you have access to one.I guess it all depends on the 2 guys. I worked one year with a guy who played on the practice squad for a pro football team. I'd bet he could load it himself if he could get a decent grip on it.

Reply:Thinktwicez71,Yesterday I had a chance to give an older TM 400 "round top" a quick test lift. Although the welder was heavy, it was not awkward. I was able to easily tip it up to balance on its back edge, and then "walk" it, by myself. The weight's center seemed high enough that the welder could be tipped into a pickup without much trouble. If necessary, I believe that a 210# weakling, such as myself, could load the welder alone. Reply:Scored my first idealarc 250 roundtop tonight , in great shape. 7056-c is the code so it has the capacitors , drove 4 hours to get it , but I wanted it bad lol. Paid 125.00 , I think I did good, what is there for maintenance on this , how do I grease or lube the polarity switch and crank ? Any tips appreciated, thanks

Reply:well i got the 50 amp dedicated line installed the other day , and i welded my first beads with it yesterday with some 6013 , i couldn't help but giggle and have a **** eatting grin on my face the whole time i was welding. we have about 15 miller xmt 304's at the union hall that i take my welding classes at and i would have to say this machine has a nicer arc and is much easier to get the rod started. i love it

Reply:Just picked my roundtop idealarc 250. Has an eye hook on top. Funny thing the front nameplate has no info filled in for, phase, amps, model number or code number. For a s/n all thats there Is AC- This is an AC DC machine with the switch. Anyone have any ideas why no name plate info is on it?
Reply:JohnYour machine has a replacement faceplate. All transformer Lincolns start with AC as part of the serial number. By looking at the insulators around the output lugs you can roughly determine before or after around 1980. If the have 2 little bumps where screws thread in from the back its the newer machine. Reply:Thanks Steve. I did a live chat with Lincoln Electric, they basically said the same as you. Ill be going through the whole machine to clean it up, including opening it up to clean and ensure the fan is working. Hopefully therell be some info inside. Appreciate the tip about the lug bumps, Lincoln Electric didnt mention that.Johng34
