Reply:I inquired about this position and talked to Gary. I was disappointed to say the least. He said he wanted more of a mechanic but one that could do all the necessary welding as well. Pay about $14-15 an hour. Good luck finding a x-ray code welder/fabricator for peanuts. You need to get up around  $25-30 an hour and you might find a decent hand. Claim to be a Christian based company and want to pay crap for a high dollar skill set, no thanks not the kind of place I want to be at. Good luckPS: and provide your own tools,  yeah right wake up your living in a fantasy world.
Reply:How many tools did they expect a worker to provide?  I have only worked at low pay weld shops, up to $17 an hour.  All personal tools, including a hood and welding gloves, would fit in a 5 gallon bucket.  They cannot expect any more for that type of pay.  On the above posting the "Christian" part scares me away...

Reply:LOL. It's right up there with those who repeat "Freedom" over and over again. When you hear it there's a 99.9% chance you aint got any or are fixin' to lose the little you do have.

Reply:Mechanics regularly are expected to supply their own tools. You won't find many places that will supply an auto mechanic with his basic tools and some even want you to supply more complex tools as well.I forget what the guy who used to work for me got paid to start when he finished automotive tech classes and got his 1st mechanics job at Pep Boys. I doubt they paid much over $15 an hour though. He was expected to supply all his own personal tools when he was hired. As far as a company noting that they are "Christian", I know several companies that are proud to mention that. It has a lot to do with the way they conduct themselves. Most view employees as family rather than "serfs", but I'm sure no all do this. The 1st company that comes to my mind is the butcher/farmer who ran the 4-H swine club. Besides donating his time and energy to the kids for 4-H, he's actively involved in feeding the homeless one Sunday a month down in the city. His business supplying all the food to the shelter that day as well as several employees ( who are paid by the company for their time) to help distribute the food. He also is involved in butchering deer donated to local food banks for free. He's always friendly, never lies or cheats customers and is more than willing to lend a hand. Shame more people don't run their business that way..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:I agree that mechanics are expected to supply tools.  $15 is very poor pay for a mechanic much less a mechanic that has to do a lot of welding.  I also have no problem with the Christian part. It lets you know what to expect but it also holds a very high standard for the company to keep. The problem is many that say this do not hold the high standard they profess to. It also gives an employee a bullseye if there is any problem between them weather it is deserved or not. Many think that if you are a Christian that you should allow them to walk all over you and if you do not let them then they attack your faith. Fair is in the eye of the beholder . Life is not fair but employees will belittle your faith if they believe you have been unfair with them. I have a friend who owns a company that tries to go by Christian principals and he runs into all kinds of employees. He had a young guy work for him for 1 week. It did not work out so he let the kid go. The whole place went on vacation for a week. While on vacation the  kid begged to be hired back so he hired him back the next week but told him he better improve.  The kid worked one day and did not show up for the second day. So my friend called him to see what was going on. The kid did not come back because everyone else got a vacation check but him. He did not think it was fair so he was not going to work there anymore. In the case of a business I believe it is better not to advertise Christianity as a drawing card but to live it in front of your employees .Last edited by thegary; 07-18-2016 at 10:30 AM.
