Gotta bit of a problem

No problem

If it makes it through the day, I'll be 100% dipped in gooooook

Reply:time for newer tires, those are dry rotted beyond repair..unless you want to foam fill them, but if you had them loaded you wont get the weight back...that patch wont do squat, maybe if it was on the inside it would make a small difference..if they are tubed, let the air out and use some paracord and stitch the crack closed, then put the patch on the inside..Last edited by Hobbytime; 08-25-2020 at 05:06 PM.
Reply:And you're worried about people not wearing masks.... Yeeeesh.

Reply:The old they sold a "boot" that fit inside the tires. It was specific to tire size. Usually installed in tires that were in good shape.A tube was installed even if tire was tubeless. Sam definitely got his money's worth. Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkLast edited by BD1; 08-25-2020 at 07:33 PM.

Used a garden hose and a chainsaw to cut around the tread of the rest of the tires and drove it around in circles until all the foam fill fell out and got 4 new radials put on it. Then had to add 1,000 lbs of counterweights to make up for the loss of weight of the foam.

Reply:The one sensible post on here was the one suggesting letting it down, pushing the tube back in, and stitching it up with paracord.relatively simple, and will get a few more years out of the tyre.. hopefully.
Reply:Should be fine Sammmmmm
Reply:Sammy ,you have finally made it big time! You seem to have passed the negative % of post replies that Chuckie Cheese gets.. Although he worked harder at being a dick..

Off topic note to you.. Traded away another 60i Plasma cutter for a machine tool.. Remember the last one got me a Cincinnati Mill.. This one is quite different, and made in Taiwan like your mill.. Really high quality unit though..

Reply:Obviously anyone who thinks foam filling those tires hasn’t priced it. Probably be close to a thousand bucks a tire. Reply:I have an old tractor doesn't see much use any more. 3 point hitch wood splitter hasn't been off it in a few years. Ten or twelve cords a year. I bought liners from Gemplers, got me through 5 years until I did a major tire swap involving 4 tractors. The old carcasses were the ones disposed of. Now it has tires tore up when some previous idiot didn't adjust the sway chains & raised the bush hog too high.An optimist is usually wrong, and when the unexpected happens is unprepared. A pessimist is usually right, when wrong, is delighted, and well prepared.

Reply:Bolt a patch in from the inside, with a thinmetal strap holding the tire together on the outside with a carriage bolt facing out, running through a thick rubber boot from the inside to the outside, nuts tightened, welded and studs sticking out trimmed.  Seen many done that way.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT

Reply:For joining belting they are great

the widest belts I have on the big sawmill are ~6inches but I use this type of joiners:

These would work though as long as the pulleys were big enough diameter:

Reply:There have been several posts on this thread, but have not seen anymore by Samm since he started the thread? I hope he is okay, maybe he is just busier then a one legged man in a butt kicking contest trying out all the methods of repair you have all mentioned

Reply:A light tractor carrying no loads .  could maybe run around on those tires for a while.  But add a trailerwith a load  and those cracks inside will keep nipping the tube. Iv'e  seen  fairly decent  tires  with hardly even noticeablecracks having to be changed  for that reason
Reply:Find a bigger old inner tube, slice the inside section off where it meets the rim, glue it to the inside of the tire, coat with baby powder to sop up the excess glue that seeps out along the beads, and slap it back together.  OR spray the inside with some rocker guard where the big cracks are.  Or glue a couple pieces of used baler belt inside.MorganEverlast PowerARC 200STi (2018)My homemade Welder (2011)Lincoln SA200 (1978)Lincoln SA200 (1974)CANOX Big Red 300 (1974)Homemade (early 60's)Hobart Hillbilly 300 (early 50's)Homemade  (early 50's)Hobart G-200 (1945)
Reply:Hey!!!!!!!!!!!!So far, the exterior patch has kept the innertube from getting punctured.   Still haven't got a line on a replacement tire that's affordable, AND NOT A CHEAPO WITH LESS LUGS THAN A GOOD TIRE.  (Lot of the cheaper tires have lower lug count, which means that it either rides rough on the pavement, and chews up the lugs........or it rides too much on the flat in dirt, and can get a puncture...........all about the gap between the tread lugs)I know it seems like I'm crazy to do the exterior patch..............it's a gamble to keep running till I find a tire.I actually do know how to make a tire good.  Dunno if y'all remember a post long time back about a "new" tire I bought at auction that had a tear in the sidewall.  Brand new Firestone radial (about $800 new) that I got for around 350ish...........but found out that they'd put the bad side down so ya couldn't see it at the auction.Got it home, got ready to mount it, and instant bummer!!!!!!!!!!!  According to my dates on the pics, it was sometime last October.So..............not to let it get the best of me..........I got ahold of this outfit in Tulsa, and they brought some boots out.  I bought a coupla sizes.

Glued 'em inside, not in the "right" way, and made do.  I needed to provide as much support for an innertube as possible.

Put the tube from the old tire in, and aired her up................

Worst place for a boot........on the sidewall.....because a radial flexes so much.  BUT SHE'S HELD UP THROUGH THE MUD, THE BLOOD, AND THE BEER, SINCE LAST FALL

Honest To God.........the tear hasn't grown in the time since the boots were put in.I keep hoping I can stumble on another deal like this............but time is limited........need the loader almost daily, and that bandaid ain't gonna hold up forever.

Reply:I think the average guy doesn't appreciate the force of compressed air. These tires generally run between about 15psi, and maybe a max of maybe 18psi.  The force of that large mass of air, compressed to the specified psi, is absolutely awesome.  People have been killed airing up large tractor tires to 30psi.
Reply:K'kins is quite familiar with volume, and pressure. She tells me that if I were an elephant, my pfarts would accelerate global warming by 20yrs

But, y'all are safe for the time being..................I'm strictly high pressure, low volume

Reply:Sadly ag tires come in 2 types cheap crap and expensive ones. Firestone is all we run. Goodyear’s are good for a year and they crack the sidewalls. Michelin’s are good but very expensive. We have a set of double coin branded tires that was cheaper that has held up well but the tire shop quit selling them because they were hell to mountMillermatic 252millermatic 175miller 300 Thunderboltlincoln ranger 250smith torcheslots of bfh'sIf it dont fit get a bigger hammer

Reply:I'm not the troll here. Also paying out on a bloke's missus is a very low act and shameful. Why don't you start posting up some of your fantastic work you brag about, we've seen nothing from you except negs. Are you in the right place here? it's for welding.
Reply:You sound like one of those asshats that get booted out of forums continuously. What's up? Got booted out of every forum there is and starting the circuit again under another alias? Won't be long now till you have to move on. Bye in advance...The end.

Reply:farmersammmI always enjoy how your 'everyday issue' threads [as often as not] run off the rails . . . This thread = Case in Point - consider imposing theQueensberry Rules - after all, it is your thread . . .hthOpus
Reply:Toddled (drove actually......but at my usual toddling pace) over to the consignment auction in Tulsa today, hoping for a tire.......none in my size

BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I FOUND THIS ON FLEABAY!!!!!!!!!!!

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-Used-Work...ef98%7Ciid%3A1If it doesn't hold air, it'll at least gimme the massive Mighty Oak thighs that K'kins admires

Anyways, for real, gonna order a new Firestone I guess.  Should be here in about 3 days or so.  Damn tire is gonna be about 1/5 the price I paid for the stinkin' tractor

Reply:Actually.........if I could take a look at the actual tire the dood sells for "workout tires", I might find it acceptable for use.  Might be better than what I got on there now.
