Reply:I used to run my first Thunderbolt on a water heater breaker.I think it was 30 amps. Never tripped the breaker. But I never ranany 5/32 rod or burned rod after rod without giving it a break.Miller a/c-d/c Thunderbolt XLMillermatic 180 Purox O/ASmith Littletorch O/AHobart Champion Elite
Reply:Short runs, small rods, lower amp settings you'll be alright for small jobs.... push it and you'll be popping breakers. If you're serious about doing a lot of welding, you'll need a dedicated line and breaker. Size of the tombstone and distance from the box will determine the size of the breaker required.Last edited by whtbaron; 03-04-2021 at 10:30 AM.250 amp Miller DialArc AC/DC StickF-225 amp Forney AC Stick230 amp Sears AC StickLincoln 180C MIGVictor Medalist 350 O/ACut 50 PlasmaLes
Reply:Define Lincoln tombstone. Are you talking about an Idealarc 250, or are you taking about the Lincoln 225 cracker box welder? If you mean the idealarc (the bigger, 300+ lb welder), JohnT has answered your question. The smaller/lighter AC/DC 225 will run on 30 amps no problem.Miller Multimatic 255
