is it possible to have a welding cart for a 220, and make a power source for the welder and some tools. i want to build a cart where i can push it from my storage container to the field i weld in (i dont weld in my container due to its full and i store fuel and oils in there. i wanted to add a power source for multiple reasons. 1. i dont have power most the time2. i can weld in multiple locations, like on my trucks and then push the cart to my neighbors for our projects there (my neighbor builds metal stuff and since i weld, i weld his stuff and in return he helps me or i get metal for my projects), etc etc reasons3. its a little annoying having to switch plugs all the time from my current welder (harbor freight one. im getting a miller 220 soon) to tools to lights etci want to be able to basically be able to push it anywhere and be able to weld

Reply:true. i thought about making my ranger into a rig, but eh. also its not that much walking. about 2 acres. rather than making multiple trips and humping the equipment, i just want a cart. also i feel bad using my neighbors power and my generator is too heavy to conastantly be moving around
Reply:Welding truck, or welding trailer. Mount engine drive on either, maybe even on the back of a gator type vehicle. Reply:country but i have a spot in city as well which is where my 220 will be stored first and go back n forth between locations. i might turn my ranger into a rig since its small and can get my in the main areas areas of my yard where i weld. but im not sure how to hook it all up to run off the truck and i wanna be able to use it off truck as well for travel or storage. like i said, its not much walking around the property. i just want something that gives me power. might use a car battery and inverter or something. or just ditch the idea and have no power source on the cart

Reply:I stripped a riding lawnmower down to the frame & built it back up as a cart. Steering is easy - just a bar across the pivot & the tie rods. Moves pretty easy with 3 small welders, TIG cooler & 3 gas bottles.
Reply:The trick to easy moving is BIG tires,, and plenty of air pressure in the tires.Heck, my SIL thought his diesel JD tractor that he mows with needed the engine rebuilt.I checked, the front tire pressure was down to 5psi,, the rears were less (filled with fluid),I inflated the front tires to 20psi, and I added a little air to the rears (like 10psi) he thought I did something to the engine!!I keep 30psi or more in the boat trailer tires that carries my welder,, and I inflate them more if I gotta move it very far by hand,,
