Hey Guys,Had a question - I have a powcon 300ss that i've been using for scratch start tig the last couple of months (sporadically - hobby work

and I finally got around to messing with the extra foot pedal that the guy I bought the welder from had. It was not originally a pow con pedal, so I have taken it all apart, and checked the resistor, and verified the used wires - three go to the pot - +15, variable voltage out, and ground, two go to the limit switch, and one goes to ground the pedal. My question is - I have wired it the following, according to the drawing I found on arconweld's website: http://arconweld.com/Powcon_Operator...00SS/300SS.pdfIf you look on pg 30 - it has the wiring diagram for the remote current adjustment.+15 --> pin 12Variable Voltage --> pin 130v = ground? --> pin 14start/stop --> pin 8start/stop return -> pin 9ground of pedal case --> pin 3 (got this according to the manual for the 300sm?)Questions would be - there are other pins listed in the drawing called start stop inhibit, and reference inhibit - anyone know what these do?Also - am I correct in thinking that start/stop and start/stop return should simply be connected to the limit switch in the pedal? It's what i've assumed - but so far my pedal doesn't seem to be working.Any help would be appreciated - ESPECIALLY if you already have a powcon pedal

Thanks!
Reply:If I remember correctly, Jumper 8 to 9 and welder output will turn off. So the switch in the foot control will need to be closed in the off position and open up when foot control is pressed. If you can't figure it out, send me a PM with foot control and weld models. I will look them up in the old paper manuals. |
