Hello all, I've been welding in the tank rail car repair industry for 8yrs. Recently I've been thinking about getting on the road and making better money now that my kids are almost grown. But I know that I need more experience in the construction welding field to succeed out there. Do y'all think at my age should I try and join a union apprenticeship program or hire on with a company as a helper or just take a chance and hire on as a welder. I feel like I just got outta welding school, where did y'all start out? I know once I get out there I would catch on real fast. It's just scary starting from scratch again. Any advice would be helpful. |
