In your opinion what is the best welding school to learn how to pipe welding?  The welding school I went to was pretty basic and it helped out a lot because I've been a welder fabricator for 12 years but wanna get into pipe welding.  I've heard the Tulsa welding school is a good school but it seems from what I've read that it's a rush school and If I'm gonna spend that kinda money on my future I want to spend the money wisely.

Reply:I mentioned the tulsa welding school in the other thread. Its really hard to compare what school is best because it's probably very rare for someone to attend more then one. I don't think it's rushed at all. What really matters is how fast you pick up each section of welding, because there is a curriculum they follow and you have to stay with the rest of your class. So for someone who just can't get it, they may feel rushed. But also with that, you can go in on the weekends and outside of class time to practice all you want. To graduate the school, you have to pass a few different bend tests. I didn't see anyone not graduate. They give you as many tries as you need. Even after you graduate, you can go into any Tulsa welding school to practice more for the rest of your life. The thing about apprenticeships is that you are going to be there for years before making the money a pipe welder should be making. This school is 7 months. You may get bored during the structural portion, but I think I remember something about doing the pipe only portion. You'd have to call and check. You could always learn on your own, but you need to buy all the material, and need feed back so you aren't practicing bad habits and it really helps if the feedback is real-time, not just people looking at pics of your welds.
