I recently picked up a 6 point pre fabbed cage for my 240sx. It's pre bent and pre notched. I have a Clarke 130en at home and I found out that's not sufficient to weld the .120 dom tubing I have so I'm looking to see if anyone is looking for a side job and can help me get this done. It's a convertible so it'll be pretty easy lol.
Reply:If you provided your general location, you might have better luck with responses from nearby welders. Are you looking to have your installation meet a specific racing organization's requirements? If so, which one?
Reply:Can it be welded out of the car and dropped in?Personally I think the 130en be ok.Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer

Reply:Your cage looks fairly simple. Have you thought about getting some scrap chromoly and practicing? It would be a fun project and learning experience. Also consider the cost of a "professional" weldor is at least 40$ an hour. You could get it all fitted and tacked (beveled no gaps) and weld in segments one fourth of the diameter of the pipe at a time. This should help you reposition for gun angle & stick out as you go. Then when it's all tight and painted you can tell your buddies yeah I did that I'll do yours for 50$ an hour.

Reply:Down to the Wests most western town of course! I think its is about 3,000 miles one way so $1500 ish should cover you for fuel. Should takes less than two hours to weld.
