Looking to buy a Twin Carbon Arc welder/Carbon Arc Torch. They're one and the same to my knowledge. I've also heard them called "arc torches" and "arc brazing torches". If you have one, and can ship, let me know.

Reply:I've seen the odd one on eBay in the past. Do you want it to use? Or do you need one to complete an older welder restoration project? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk:
Reply:Both, but mainly to use. I'm picking up an old century welder this weekend, and it originally came with one. I'm also intrigued by the old-style carbon and twin carbon arc welding, and want to have a try at it.
Reply:I also had to have a try at it. Worked pretty well for heating for bending or removing rusted nuts. Sort of worked for brazing.Never had any luck welding with it. After I bought O/A set, homemadecarbon arc torch got dismantled for parts.Miller a/c-d/c Thunderbolt XLMillermatic 180 Purox O/ASmith Littletorch O/AHobart Champion Elite
Reply:I've been reading up, found a couple of webpages, and an old Lincoln manual on how to carbon arc weld. Would like to keep the old style practices alive, even if they are obsolete.
Reply:I don't think it would be classified as an old style practice that became obsolete. It was more an add on gimmick to sell more welders until buyers caught on. Edit.  Sorry I realize i you're on a mission. Didn't mean to be such a buzz-kill.

Reply:The attachment may seem gimmicky, but carbon arc welding is the O.G. arc welding, first described circa 1882. Twin Carbon Arc Welding came out after that, I believe as a way to prevent carbon contamination in the welds.Last edited by Carbon-Arc; 07-01-2021 at 01:43 AM.
